The Student Conservation Association's Online Community
As you know by now, AmeriCorps is all about improving lives, strengthening communities, and fostering civic engagement through service and volunteering. With that in mind, SCA has made the commitment to AmeriCorps that our members would engage the community where they are serving in an outreach project.
This outreach project can be anything that you want it to be. This is your chance to get creative! Depending on your situation, this project will look different for everyone.
What is a community outreach project?
A community outreach project is an activity that provides services to a local population who might not otherwise have access to those services. In addition to delivering services, outreach has an educational role, raising the awareness of existing services. For the purposes of your outreach project, it would make sense to do something related to your SCA AmeriCorps service, but we are not putting any restrictions on what you choose to do (other than the AmeriCorps prohibited activities, of course).

There is no formal reporting requirement, but we love to hear about the projects that members are working on, so please send along an email and share the details of your project if you feel inspired to do so.
