SCA's Risk Management Goal is to "fulfill our mission in potentially hazardous environments without personal or organizational loss".
Be sure to take the time to read the Risk Management pages (16 and 17) in the Corps Member Handbook.
Here are a few important facts to keep in mind:
- A hazard is anything that can be a source of damage or injury (for example, lightening).
- A risk occurs when we choose to expose ourselves to that hazard (for example, choosing to camp atop a mountain during a lightening storm).
- We can eliminate all hazards --- but we can try to accurately assess them, and manage them to an acceptable level.
- Always promptly and accurately report to your project leader when an incident has taken place.
