The Student Conservation Association's Online Community
The International Parks Program began in 2007 as a collaboration between the
Student Conservation Association and International Christian University to
provide practical, field-based learning opportunities for ICU students in U.S.
National Parks. Students can apply knowledge that they have gained at ICU in ‘real world’ situations and work alongside
professional biologists and educators of the National Park Service (NPS), Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management to carry out their mission of protecting natural resources and educating visitors.
The International Parks Program provides interns with an opportunity to increase their understanding of conservation practices and broaden their worldview through immersion in American culture. Students carry on SCA’s legacy in Japan by returning with new skills and awareness learned through direct service on U.S. public lands.
