Veterans Fire Corps

SCA's Veterans Fire Corps (VFC) provides recent-era Military Veterans the training, credentials and experience they need to competitively pursue wildland fire and/or forestry careers.Wildfire handcrews exemplify the American spirit. They are self sufficient. They are expected to work hard. Long days are the norm. They often eat and sleep where they work, without luxury. They face danger daily and are the backbone of the "firefighting army" and earn great respect.See More

Making a big life change...  After almost ten years with the Federal Government I am deciding to leave this life behind in search of the pure conservation ethic I wanted to work with.  I have spent the last 6 years or so with the National Park Service and the US Forest Service, but I am beginning to feel I may be better suited to serve my public lands outside those agencies.  I look forward to the challenges and all the new experiences!  I think meeting new people and having different experiences will be very enjoyable!

Can someone who has done an internship in the past give me a few pointers to make sure I have everything lined out before I leave?  I'm almost certain I have everything covered, but I am RIDICULOUSLY detail oriented and want to make sure.  Planning things out with only a few months prior is pretty foreign to me now, so I am stressing more than I need to.
