My Sustainable Journey January 2013

Outcomes and Experiences January:I’m experiencing a positive feeling of accomplishment, as I look back over the Work Plan I created eight months ago. Despite challenges along the way and several learning curves, I have completed nearly every task outlined in my Work Plan. Going forward, I accepted an offer to stay at my account, as the Sustainability Coordinator post internship.…See More

My Sustainable Journey wk_31

Continuing with our Local Food Awareness Days was successful and we had a great time doing it. In November we had several local farmers here for our All Local PB&J & Honey event. They were here to engage with students about their sustainable farming methods and provided samples of their products as well. We held a raffle giving away 3 large gift baskets containing local products along with PSP and ARAMARK swag.  There was excellent response from VCU students as we collected 4 pages of…See More

It is evident that a lot of my work is being noticed and that the projects I have worked on are making a positive impact around the campus here at VCU. In my last blog I outlined several of the programs and events I have been focusing on lately. Since those events took place the programs were written about and featured in a few different media outlets. It is good to get some notoriety for the all the work I have been focused on.…See More

Well I'm officially halfway through my Internship at this point. What an awesome learning and career building experience. I have grown fond of Richmond by now, and the fall foliage is extremely beautiful here. VCU is great campus, very diverse; my first experience in an urban campus atmosphere, and I am enjoying it. Participating in the advancement of sustainability in an urban University campus setting is much different than that of traditional University settings. Working on sustainability…See More

Drains to Bay

"Meagan, This is great. We did this very thing in the commuity around the Univerity of South Carolina, (before this internship). The drains flowed right into our local watershed, into our rivers, which travel directly to the Atlantic."

My Sustainable Journey wk_18

I have been super busy lately, and that means I have been working really hard to do things well. The cool thing is that this type of work is really rewarding. I’ve never enjoyed working, like the way I enjoy my current internship. Every day I work on projects that make a difference; as I fight the good fight, in the name of environmental conservation and sustainability.  It pumps me up, and each day starts off as a good day, while I  think about better solutions on my drive into work.Right now…See More

Thanks! When do you get to try out the trivia game on the students? I'm curious if you find any tips or tricks to make it go well.  It's crazy around here this week, the campus has suddenly come alive with activity.  I'm excited to see the opportunities the fall semester brings!
