The Student Conservation Association's Online Community
Yesterday kicked off the fall recruiting season (and this past weekend kicked off the fall football season) here in the Midwest. I had a great (and busy) experience at the Job, Internship, and Service Fair at Loyola University Chicago. It was actually my first time back on a college campus since I graduated from my masters program a little over a year ago. Being back on a college campus brought back a lot of great memories, and it was truly inspiring to see how many students at Loyola were interested in service! It made me reflect on my own first experience with SCA, and how taking that chance, to go serve in a national park I had never really even heard of before, was the first step down a totally a new and exciting career (and life) path for me. I hope that this fall my stories and the stories of other SCA alumni will help inspire the next group of young, energetic individuals to take a chance, to serve, and to make a change in their lives, their environment, and their world.
Here’s a pic of me at Curecanti National Recreation Area, during my first internship back in 2005 (check out the old school SCA logo!)
I’m looking forward to a great first full week of travel, first visiting the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (my alma mater) and then the University of Wisconsin – Madison! I hope to meet up with any students out there interested in serving with SCA, as well as Alumni interested in sharing their stories. That means you! So shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or give me a call (603-558-3504) if you will be around either campus next week!

See you soon!
